After graduating from the University of Southern California School of Cinema, Erick Ziegler began his career in the film industry at Roger Corman's Concorde/New Horizon's. After quickly rising to the head of post production, he left to join Hope Street Entertainment and worked on the Sundance favorite, Dead Man's Curve. He also wrote the film, Creating the Perfect Man, which was a "hot" seller at Cannes for the late-night audience. It soon aired on Cinemax. Erick then took a position at HBO where he worked for 8 years in the Post Delivery, Planning and Operations unit, working on such films and series as The Sopranos, Rome, American Splendor, and Last Days. He now works in post production at Pixar.

Nephew of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0113585/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Gail Brown</a> and <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0000947/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Karen Black</a>, younger sisters of his father Peter Ziegler.

Cousin of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0141246/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Hunter Carson</a> and <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0248533/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Celine Eckelberry</a>.

His brother Bryan Ziegler (1979-2022) was a prosecutor for San Diego County and ran for city council in 2012 and 2014. Bryan married the former Michelle Saline in 1998 and they had four sons.
