- Aleksandr Zhitinsky was born on January 19, 1941. He was a writer, known for Unikum (1984), Vremya letat (1988) and Lady Into Lassie (1995). He died on January 25, 2012.
- Russian writer and publisher of St. Petersburg. He helped to organize the 1992 writers' cruise on the Russian ship Konstantin Simonov. This was arranged by the Writers' Union of St. Petersburg and the Swedish Writers' Union; 300 writers and translators were invited from around the Baltic Sea and convened for three weeks.
