Biography

Rolf Zehetbauer was born on February 13, 1929 in Munich, Germany. He was a production designer and art director, known for Cabaret (1972), The NeverEnding Story (1984) and Enemy Mine (1985). He died on January 23, 2022 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

Greatly admired by American director Robert Aldrich, who worked with him on Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977). Aldrich described him as being, along with Sir Ken Adam, one of the two finest production designers in Europe.

Studied art at the Kunsthochschule in Munich.

Was for many years the main production designer at Bavaria Studios.
