John Zaritsky is a director and writer, known for The Suicide Tourist (2007), Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo (1994), The Wild Horse Redemption (2007), Just Another Missing Kid (1981). John Zaritsky is an Academy Award winning filmmaker with a reputation for taking on the most impossible of topics and characters and turning them into compelling and entertaining stories. John has won more than 40 awards for his documentary films.

He majored in English and history at the University of Toronto. His first job out of college was police reporter for the Hamilton Spectator. He also worked for the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, before starting his film-making career in CBC television.
