Laura Zapata was born on July 31, 1952 in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. She is an actress, known for Rosa salvaje (1987), María Mercedes (1992) and Zacatillo, un lugar en tu corazón (2010).

On September 22, 2002 was kidnapped and held for ransom after leaving a theater in Mexico City, Mexico with her sister, Ernestina Sodi. Laura was held for 18 days. Her sister was held for 34 days.

Older maternal half sister of Federica Sodi and Thalía.

Has 2 sons Claudio and Patricio with Juan Eduardo, scientist.

Her father is Guillermo Zapata and her mother is Yolanda Miranda Mange.
