Biography

Perry Yung is an American actor and musician from Oakland, CA who made his television debut as Ping Wu in Steven Soderbergh's Cinemax series The Knick. Since then he has appeared on many network shows including Gotham, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, SVU Law and Order, The Equalizer and recently returned from London where he starred in Netflix's The Three-body Problem written by the Game of Thrones team David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. His film work includes The Harvest, John Wick: Chapter 2, Condemned, Jade Pendant, Boogie Benji the Dove, A Father's Son and voiced the Puppet Master opposite Edward Norton in the English language release of the Chinese animated feature The Guardians Brothers. These days Perry is best known as Father Jun in Cinemax's Warrior, produced by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious), Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee's daughter), Justin Lin (Fast and Furious) and Jonathan Tropper (Banshee). This production allowed him to combine acting with his music career as an award winning shakuhachi bamboo flute musician. His flute playing is heard on the soundtrack throughout all three seasons of Warrior as well as on other film scores. As a stage actor, Perry is a founding member of the Slant Performance Group and has been a member of La MaMa E.T.C.'s Great Jones Repertory Group since 1993. He recently debuted his first film - Stop Asian Hate Love One Another - which was nominated for Best Music Video at the Disorient Film Festival in Eugene, OR.

He is a multi-award wining Japanese shakuhachi flute craftsman and the first ever supported by both the American and Japanese governments. Perry appeared onstage with Vangelis as a guest soloist in Doha, Qatar in 2012.
