- She was married in 1894 at 14 to actor John Craig(1868-1931). They divorced in 1930 but are buried in the same cemetery presumably together. They had two sons, Harmon Craig born in 1895 who died in 1917 in WW1 from wounds to his leg and John Craig(1896-1945). She survived both of her sons.
- She appeared in three Best Picture Academy Award winners: The Lost Weekend (1945), An American in Paris (1951) and Around the World in 80 Days (1956). She also appears in two other Best Picture nominees: Foreign Correspondent (1940) and Watch on the Rhine (1943).
- She had a grandson also called Harmon Craig.
- Mary Young was cast as Mrs. Elsing, one of the Atlanta matrons, in "Gone with the wind" (1939). She actually filmed scenes during the Atlanta bazaar sequence, but these were eventually cut from the release print. (Stills of her taken on the set, as well as photographs of her wardrobe tests, can be found in books dealing with the filming of "Gone with the wind.").
