- Kazuko Yoshiyuki was born on August 9, 1935 in Tokyo, Japan. She was an actress, known for Departures (2008), Ponyo (2008) and Empire of Passion (1978). She died on September 2, 2025.
- Her older brother is Junnosuke Yoshiyuki (a writer) and little sister is 'Rie Yoshiyuki' (also a writer).
- Her father Yoshiyuki, Eisuke (1906-1940) was a novelist and one of the Japanese Dadaists. He died young leaving 3 gifted children.
- Yoshiyuki was not the initial choice to play in Tokyo Family of 2011. Etsuko Ichihara was initially cast in Tokyo Family, the 2011 remake of Tokyo Story, but ended up not playing the role of the Hirayama matriarch after shooting was delayed due to the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
