  • Ho Yi was born as Ho-Yi Wong, in Hong Kong in 1956. He is an actor/director/playwright/producer. He was educated, as well as, established his career in Hong Kong.

    He has lived and worked in the United Kingdom where he was known for his major character roles in international films such as Die Another Day (007) and Spay Game.

    His early career in Hong Kong had been pre-dominantly stage work, and is considered as the leading influence of the Hong Kong's theatre evolution in 1980-90s from government company to actor-manager run troupes.

    Stage aside, Ho Yi also appeared in Hong Kong made films and television series. He was the first established Hong Kong actor to play a title role in a mainland Chinese film.

    He made his feature film directing debut with Thunderstorm, for which he also wrote the screenplay and played the leading role, in 1995.

    Ho Yi's latest work "Red Passage", is his second narrative feature film as a director for which he wrote his screenplay in 2005. It took eight years before shooting began in July 2013. It is also produced by Ho Yi, based on his own story, set in 1970/71 Hong Kong, in Cantonese.
