Sumru Yavrucuk

Sumru Yavrucuk is a Turkish actress recognized for her work in theater, television and film. After studying at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and graduating with honors from the Ankara State Conservatory, she joined the Istanbul State Theater in 1982 and became known for performances in productions such as "Macbeth" and "Leenane'nin Guzellik Kralicesi". Alongside her acting career, she worked extensively with hearing-impaired performers, directing award-winning stage productions and helping expand drama education for the hearing impaired in Turkey. Following her retirement from the state theater, she continued performing in acclaimed one-woman plays including "Yalniz Kadin" and "Shirley Valentine", earning several Afife Theater Awards and other major stage honors. Yavrucuk gained wide popularity with the role of Feride in the television series Yabanci Damat (2004) and later appeared in productions including What Is Fatmagul's Fault? (2010). In cinema, she drew attention with films such as Rosa, I Love You (1992), which brought her awards at the Antalya Golden Orange and Adana Golden Boll festivals. Over the course of her career, she established herself as one of Turkey's respected stage performers, known for emotionally intense roles and her commitment to theater both on and off the stage.
