Norman Garcy Yap is an award-winning actor, writer, and producer known for portraying grounded, quietly defiant men who lead with conscience and heart. A veteran of Chicago's improv scene, and with over a hundred Equity theatre lead performances to his credit, he brings spontaneity and depth to every role.
He won the 2024 Deutsche Bank Frieze LA Jury Award for his lead performance in The Metamorphosis Project and stars in Sun King (Best Illinois Feature - BIFF, streaming on Amazon and Tubi). Norman was also selected for the 2025 East West Players × NBCUniversal Launch Actor's Program, spotlighting promising Asian talent for series-regular roles.
A Rideback Rise Writer Cohort Graduate, Norman brings a storyteller's eye to his on-camera work and champions authentic Asian American stories that connect people through truth, humor, and heart. A dual U.S.-Canadian citizen, husband, father, and lifelong traveler to more than 35 countries, he's a PADI-certified scuba diver, solo skydiver, and fluent in Mandarin, Spanish, French and Hakka Chinese.
