Venus was found strangled and stuffed under a bed in a New York hotel room. Her body was discovered by a stranger four days after her death.

Of Italian-American and Puerto Rican descent.

Venus had four brothers: Frank (1963-2005), John Jr., Joseph, Louis, and one sister named Claire.

None of her family members ever attended the House of Xtravaganza balls that she participated in when she was still alive.

She has appeared in one film that has been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: Paris Is Burning (1990).
