Biography

Aribert Wäscher was born on December 1, 1895 in Flensburg, Germany. He was an actor, known for Madame Bovary (1937), It Was a Gay Ballnight (1939) and Liselotte von der Pfalz (1935). He was married to Gudrun Genest. He died on December 14, 1961 in West Berlin, West Germany.

Stepfather of Corinna Genest.

Prolific, heavy-set German character actor of the 1930's and 40's, on stage from 1919. Also noted as a writer of poems and anecdotes. Member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Theater, 1946-50. As an actor, he was equally at home in both amusing and serious dramatic portrayals, his style was at one time curiously described as "the comedy of nightmares".
