- Although she was often cast as Native American women, she was actually Jewish and of Hungarian descent. Ironically, while she changed her name from Weinberger to Wyler to sound more "All-American" (few Jewish actors used their real names professionally at the time), she ended up being pigeonholed into an entirely different ethnic group.
