First met John Wayne when Jim was an extra on The Fighting Seabees (1944). After that, was
longtime friends with "The Duke" and his family from then on. Appeared
in other Wayne films, like The Alamo (1960), where Jim had acting and stunt
work.
At 16, was the second youngest to enlist in the Marines during World
War II.
