Henry Wood was born on March 3, 1869 in London, England, UK. He was married to Muriel Ellen Greatrex and Olga Michailoff. He died on August 19, 1944 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England, UK.

He was awarded knighthood of the British Empire in 1911 and Companion of Honor in 1944 for his services to music.

The younger Promenaders stamp their feet in time to the hornpipe - that is until I whip up the orchestra in a fierce accelerando which leaves behind all those whose stamping technique is not of the very first quality.
