Biography

James Hansen Newman, Ph.D. American physicist and a former NASA astronaut is Diane's first cousin.

An avid solo backpacker, Diane has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North Africa and South America.

Diane was born in San Francisco.

Her father is classical composer, Phelps Dean Witter, who studied at the Paris Conservatiore and with Nadia Boulanger.

Trained for three years at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, and made her West End debut in Sir Peter Hall's Streetcar Named Desire, with Jessica Lange.

Diane's mother, Barbara Newman-Witter, worked as the Assistant to the Producer for the 1958 Jacques Tati film, Mon Oncle.
