Biography

Johnny Winter was born on February 23, 1944 in Beaumont, Texas, USA. He was an actor and composer, known for The Accused (1988), Sliver (1993) and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978). He was married to Susan Warford. He died on July 16, 2014 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Although primarily a blues guitarist, Johnny Winter admitted to hating the period when he recorded a few albums of rock 'n' roll. The musician believed he had sold out by betraying his blues roots.

Performing at the Woodstock music festival was Johnny Winter's first major gig.

With increasing illness, Winter could only perform live whilst sitting down.

Several times during his career, Johnny Winter played his own version of the Rolling Stones song "Jumping Jack Flash" during concerts.
