Kitty Winn

  • Her performance as "Helen" in The Panic in Needle Park (1971) is ranked #76 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time (2006).
  • Granddaughter of General George C. Marshall, wartime Chief of Staff in World War II--he was her mother's stepfather. She later sold the painting "A View of Tinherir" by Sir Winston Churchill which had been given to Gen. Marshall by the famous British Prime Minister; the painting sold at auction for $1.2 million (11 December 2006).
  • Winn initially retired in 1978 upon getting married and having a child, but briefly returned to acting in 1982, doing some television. After one last acting role, a guest spot in Partners in Crime (1984), she permanently retired from acting to focus on raising her family.
  • Winn came out of retirement for a one-time occasion to do a stage performance in 2011, by playing the lead in The Last Romance at the San Jose Repertory Theatre. She was nominated for a best actress award by the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle.
  • Portrayed Ophelia in a star-studded 1972 NY production of "Hamlet" starring Stacy Keach Colleen Dewhurst and James Earl Jones.
  • She has appeared in one film that has been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: The Exorcist (1973).
  • Namesake of her grandmother, Katherine Tupper Marshall, wife of George C. Marshall.
  • Has a child with her husband Morton Winston.
