Joan Winfield was born on September 24, 1918 in Melbourne, Australia. She was an actress, known for The Gorilla Man (1943), Murder on the Waterfront (1943) and The Imperfect Lady (1946). She was married to John Meredyth Lucas. She died on June 16, 1978 in Van Nuys, California, USA.

Won the Violin Championship of Australia at age thirteen

Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London

Mother of Victoria Lucas, Liz MacGillicuddy Lucas and Michael Meredyth Lucas.

Took her stage name from a character played by Bette Davis in The Bride Came C.O.D. (1941), released by Warner Bros. the same year that Joan began her career at that studio.
