- Returned to acting after he lost his bid for a Republican congressional seat. His last film appearance was in Blind Horizon (2003), starring Val Kilmer and was released posthumously.

- He was cremated at National Cremation Service in Riverside, California. His urn was entombed in a columbarium at Riverside National Cemetery with a memorial plaque for his cenotaph in a traditional burial plot.
