Trivia

Stanton Williams

  • Older brother of Esther Williams.
  • Brother-in-law of Edward Michael Bell.
  • Discovered by chance in 1919 by famed Broadway actress Marjorie Rambeau who came to the Wilkes Theater in Salt Lake City with a touring company of "The Eyes of Youth." It seems she replaced a young actor with the inexperienced Stanton when she discovered he could cry on cue. He joined the Wilkes Theater stock company as a result.
  • The family relocated from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles on Stanton's natural acting talent and the promise of a film career. Sister Esther Williams, the youngest of five, was born in Inglewood, a suburb of L.A.
  • Put under contract to Garson Film Studios.
  • His father, Louis Stanton Williams, was a sign painter.
  • According to Esther Williams's biography, Stanton died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of sixteen. One day after a hearty Sunday lunch, he complained of stomach numbness. A doctor was summoned but he got lost and never made it to the house. In the process of normal digestion, Stanton's intestine became blocked and his colon burst. He died the same evening.
  • Ex-brother-in-law of Ben Gage and Fernando Lamas.
