Biography

Thirty-plus years in, Gregory Alan Williams continues to appear regularly in film and on television. He has also been producing, writing and, directing for the past several years. Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, GregAlan served as a Combat Engineer and Journalist in the United States Marine Corps. His professional career began in 1978 as a member of the renown Penumbra Theater Company in St. Paul Minnesota.

Gained recognition in 1992 when, during the race riots in Los Angeles, California, known as the "Rodney King riots", he rescued a Japanese-American motorist who had been pulled out of his car and was being beaten by a mob. The motorist was semi-conscious and bleeding heavily when Williams rescued him, and a passing black driver picked up the injured man from Williams and drove him to a nearby hospital, where emergency surgery saved his life.

He was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. At nineteen, after his freshman year at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1975 and served for two years as a Combat Engineer, where he was stationed at the Naval Base in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Gregory is listed in the Who's Who of the United States Marine Corps.

GregAlan in a founding member of the renown African American Theater company Penumbra (St. Paul, MN) where he worked with the company's playwright in residence Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson.

Attended Coe College in Iowa.
