Biography

Lillias White was born on July 21, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She is an actress, known for Hercules (1997), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and Hercules (1998).

She understudied the role of Effie in the original 1981 production of Dreamgirls and later played the part in the 1987 revival.

Lillias White won an Emmy Award for her role as Sesame Street's Lillian Edwards.

Won Broadway's 1997 Tony Award as Best Actress (Featured Role - Musical) for her portrayal of a hooker in "The Life."

Lillias White received Broadway's Prestigious Quadruple Crown for her role as Sonja in the musical entitled The Life: (1) People's Choice Award, (2) Outer Critics Award for Best Actress in a Musical, (3) Drama Desk Award and (4) Tony Award for best featured actress in a musical in 1997.

She was nominated for a 2006 NAACP Theatre Award for Best Lead Female (Equity) for "Like Jazz" in presentation with association with Transamerica at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
