Robert's UCLA short film, A Little Off Mark (1991) was featured at the first retrospective of L.A. Rebellion films at the University of Chicago and most recently as part of the series, "L.A. Rebellion: Creating a New Black Cinema."

After leaving UCLA, Robert worked as a music video producer for Forest Whitaker. His has also worked behind the scenes on various independent and studio films including Waiting to Exhale (1995), House Party (1990), and Chasing Papi (2003).
