Biography

Sandy Wernick was born on March 22, 1939 in Bronx, New York, USA. He was a producer and manager, known for Bulletproof (1996), The Wedding Singer (1998) and Happy Gilmore (1996). He was married to Barbara. He died on March 5, 2026 in Rancho Mirage, California, USA.

While working in television, Wernick co-created and executive-produced Def Comedy Jam. He was also involved in packaging and producing shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Muppet Show, The Sopranos, Politically Incorrect, Just Shoot Me, NewsRadio, Alf and The Larry Sanders Show.

Wernick, a partner and senior executive vice president of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, was largely involved in personal management, TV and motion picture packaging and producing. Though, prior to becoming a manager in the '70s, Wernick also notably worked as an agent, rising from the mailroom at MCA to ICM's vice president of the TV division.

Sandy Wernick also spent years as an adjunct professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts' Peter Stark Producing Program and volunteered in the Cedars Sinai emergency room.

Wernick went on to serve in the Army from 1960 to 1962 and graduate from NYU.
