  • Franz Wenzler was born on April 26, 1893 in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany. He was a director and writer, known for Hundert Tage (1935), Ehe mit beschränkter Haftung (1931) and The Peak Scaler (1933). He died on January 9, 1942 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Trivia

  • The director Franz Wenzler began his career at the theater where he worked as an actor, first in Regenburg and Braunschweig. Later he gained a foothold in Munich too. Finally he came to Berlin where he appeared among others at the Deutsches Theater. There he also realised several plays as a director.
  • Attempts to work in the film business again failed in Austria too after his conflict with the National Socialists.
  • At the beginning of the '30s he also realised first movies as a film director. To these movies belong Das Ekel (1931) (1931), the propaganda film Hans Westmar (1933) (1933) and Hundert Tage (1935) (1935).
  • When he came into conflict with National Socialists he was excepted from the Reichsfilmkammer, Franz Wenzler was not able to realised movies afterwards. He returned to the theater where he worked in Vienna.
  • Franz Wenzler went to Rome where he died at the age of 49. The circumstances which led to his death are not known.
