Hollis Welsh

Biography

  • Hollis Welsh is an American actress, producer and model. Born in Idaho, Hollis lived in several cities in the American West growing up, graduating from Huntington Beach High School. After her first year of college as a math and science major and cross country runner, her beloved grandfather passed, and Hollis switched to acting and never looked back. Her first acting teacher was Lauren Tewes (Julie McCoy from "The Love Boat") whom she still credits today for teaching her the fundamentals of bringing oneself fully to every role. Hollis went on to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts with Paul Rudd and Adam Scott, and then moved to Seattle to attend a private arts college (Cornish), finishing her theater degree at the University of Washington.

Hollis has worked extensively in film and television as well as professionally in regional theater. As a company member of Tom Noonan's Paradise Factory Theater, Hollis performed with him for a long run in NYC in his original play, "What the Hell's Your Problem: An Evening with Dr. Bob Nathelson." Hollis has also been a member of Jack Stehlin's The New American Theater in LA (formerly Circus Theatricals), and has performed professionally in LA, NYC, Seattle, Minneapolis, the Bay Area and Idaho. Hollis' first feature film was Brion Rockwell's award-winning "Where the Air is Cool and Dark" with original music by The Walkabouts. She has worked with writer/director Malik Isasis, producer Heather Rae, director Michael Hoffman, Jamie Kennedy, Melissa Joan Hart, actor/coach Josh Pais, and the late great Sydney Lumet.
