Biography

David Weisbart was born on January 21, 1915 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He was a producer and editor, known for Them! (1954), Mildred Pierce (1945) and Rebel Without a Cause (1955). He died on July 21, 1967 in Los Angeles County, California, USA.

Began as an editor at Warner Brothers in 1942, eventually becoming that studio's youngest producer in 1952. He moved to 20th Century-Fox in 1956 and was noted for producing four Elvis Presley films.

Was producing Valley of the Dolls (1967) when he died of heart failure while playing golf at the Brentwood Country Club with the film's director, Mark Robson.

He has edited two films that have been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: Mildred Pierce (1945) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1951). He has also produced one film that is in the registry: Rebel Without a Cause (1955).
