Romain Weingarten was born on 5 December 1926 in Paris, France. He was an actor and writer, known for The Master and Margaret (1972), Le petit théâtre d'Antenne 2 (1977) and Savannah (1988). He was married to Florence Loeb. He died on 13 July 2006 in Challans, Vendée, France.

Playwright, he is the son of painter Joachim Weingart and sculptor Muriel Marquet-Pontrémoli and the father of Isabelle Weingarten.
