Biography

Fritz Weidemann was born on January 1, 1871 in Neustadt, Holstein, Germany. He was an actor and director, known for The Student of Prague (1913), Dschihad (1916) and The Devil's Assistant (1913). He died on January 30, 1919 in Germany.

He made his screen debut in 1911 with "Die keusche Susanne" (1911), Afterwards followed a whole serial of movies with the first European movie star Asta Nielsen like "Zu Tode gehetzt" (1912), "Der Totentanz" (1912), "Komödianten" (1913) and "Jugend und Tollheit" (1913). All these movies were directed by Urban Gad.

The actor Fritz Weidemann was already an established stage actor who impersonated numerous roles in classic plays as well before he entered the film business.

Fritz Weidemann also took part in productions directed by other directors as Urban Gad, among them the cult film "Der Student von Prag" (1913) with Paul Wegener.
