Biography

Suzanne Weber was most recently on staff for all three seasons of Disney's critically-acclaimed and award-winning single-cam half-hour dramedy, Andi Mack, created by Terri Minsky.

Weber is known for creating and performing the character, Anita Liberty, a performance poet who achieves notoriety when her boyfriend, Mitchell, dumps her for a woman named Heather and, to get even, Anita devotes her entire career to humiliating him in public. She has penned three books under her Anita Liberty pseudonym - How to Heal the Hurt by Hating (Villard 2006/Ballantine 1998), How to Stay Bitter Through the Happiest Times of Your Life (Villard 2006) and the YA title, The Center of the Universe (Yep, That Would Be Me) (Simon Pulse/Simon & Schuster, 2008). She also wrote To What Miserable Wretches Have I Been Born? Revenge Poetry for Babies and Toddlers (Atria Books/Simon & Schuster 2012) under her given name.

Weber has sold and developed a number of original half-hour comedy pilot scripts: "Not Like the Others" for Brillstein Entertainment and ABC Studios, "Play Nice" for ABC Studios with Don Todd (Samantha Who?) attached as Executive Producer, "Blindsided" for NBC with JoAnn Alfano (30 Rock) attached to produce (off a blind script deal with the network) and "Perfect Couple", developed by HBO Studios for ABC. In addition, Weber adapted her second book (How to Stay Bitter...) with NBC Studios and Broadway Video for ABC with Alex Herschlag (Will & Grace) attached as Executive Producer. She adapted her first book (How to Heal the Hurt...) into a half-hour pilot three times (twice for NBC and once for CBS.)

"Fresh Takes," a micro-series starring Alicia Keys was developed and written by Weber for Unilever and MindShare Entertainment to launch Dove's "Go Fresh" campaign. Five episodes were produced for online viewing and broadcast during MTV's "The Hills."

Weber has performed numerous one-person shows as Anita Liberty at various venues in New York, Los Angeles, Aspen and San Francisco. "Not Thinking About You," her one-person show directed by R.J. Cutler (Nashville, The September Issue, The War Room), had its debut at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Her short film, "Anita Liberty,", directed by and co-written with Cutler and starring Weber, was produced by the Independent Film Channel and broadcast on Bravo. It was also an official selection at Sundance.
