- [awkward model casting calls] Sometimes it is easy and you go in, one at a time, and show your book, or try on garments and you are out of there. But sometimes it is a major cattle call, and they will at times ask you to be ready to go either in your bathing suit or bra and panty. So you are literally standing there with a hundred other girls wearing practically nothing, trying not to compare your boobs to the girl on your right. Horrible.
- [scary early modeling experience] A photographer drove me out to the middle of nowhere and told me to lie down in the high grass. I was wearing a bikini and he kept telling me to get into these super provocative poses and at one point said, "open your legs like a flower." I was so creeped out that I ran out and walked almost 15 miles to get to a place to grab a taxi.
- [acting vs. modeling] Hands down I would choose acting. I never wanted to model. It was something that kept me going financially when acting was slow. Modeling is a very tough business for your self-esteem. When you are not 5'11" and 14 years old, the world of modeling makes you feel like there is something wrong with you, that you are inadequate. I don't like feeling that way!
- [first thing she'd do if she was a man for a day] Have sex.
- [being an international sex symbol] I guess I don't really think of myself like that. At the end of the day, it all comes down to great makeup, photographers, lighting, a good team that helps me look the best that I can, so it is a bit of smoke and mirrors! I think people assume you are ignorant too if you can rock a bikini which isn't the case.
- [battling cancer] It was just a tough go, but I think at the end of the day, when your eyebrows and eyelashes are falling out and you're on the bathroom floor in, like, a big mush-puddle of vomit, you kind of start seeing yourself for who you really are. And what's really important.
