Biography

Linda Ann Watt is an American actor, writer, producer, director, and award-winning acting coach. She was born in New York to Angelina Watt, née Aversa, and George G. Watt Jr. At the age of fourteen, she received a scholarship to attend the New York Academy of Theatrical Arts at the Van Dam Street Theater in New York City. Her instructors studied with Stanislavski and Strasberg, which informed her earliest theatrical training. She later attended the Stella Adler Conservatory and studied extensively with Milton Katselas and Lorrie Hull, PhD, in Los Angeles.

At the age of nineteen, Watt associate-produced her first documentary, "Unicycle," for National PBS Television. She later produced "The Method Based on Stanislavski and Strasberg" with Martin Landau, Shelley Winters, and Cloris Leachman, described as the only teaching tool approved by Lee Strasberg.

Watt is a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA. Her acting credits include HBO’s "Melvin Goes Disco," ABC’s "Just Our Luck," and NBC’s "Days of Our Lives". She has worked with directors Sidney Poitier, Sydney Pollack, Frank Oz, and Jim Henson. Her national commercial work includes campaigns for Federal Express, Pepsi Cola, and Signal Mouthwash.

Along with acting, Watt worked extensively in children’s television as the producer, writer, and star of "The Cory the Clown Show" with her husband Cory Riback (2000-2002), and "Cory’s Learning Corner," a short-form series that aired on 280 PBS member stations nationally from 1997-2000. On the series, she directed guest appearances by Betty White, Aaron Neville, Nell Carter, Tippi Hedren, Dom DeLuise, and Sid Caesar. Both projects were produced through Corlin Productions, LLC at Raleigh Studios.

Teaching acting is central to Watt’s career, with more than 30 years of industry experience. She has taught acting and filmmaking in Los Angeles, throughout the South, and internationally. She holds an MFA in Theatre Performance Pedagogy and was nominated for the Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre Education in 2015. She served as an instructor in the School of Film, Media and Theatre at Georgia State University and is the founder of Academy of Acting, LLC, where she teaches acting and filmmaking classes in Charlotte, Atlanta, and online internationally.

Watt and her husband, Cory Riback, have one son, Quinn Riback.
