Biography

Billie Lou Watt was born on June 20, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She was an actress and writer, known for Astro Boy (1963), The End of the Road (1998) and SuperBook (1981). She was married to Hal Studer. She died on September 7, 2001 in New York City, New York, USA.

Daughter of Edison Watt (1897-1979), who worked as an official at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and Floy (nee Smith) Watt (1892-1963), who worked in the adjustment department of Stix, Baer & Fuller in St. Louis for over 20 years.

Older sister, Elizabeth (1922-2014), was an English teacher.

Won the Edgar Bergen Scholarship to Northwestern University's School of Speech.

Met actor-husband Hal Studer while attending Northwestern University; they were married before graduation.

Passed away four days before the September 11 attacks.

We did Superbook for CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network]. I felt that the interpretation of the Bible stories by the Japanese was great. It was very beautiful. The animation, though, while good, was not as good as Tezuka's.
