Fred P. Watkins

Mr. Watkins has been working in the film industry, starting out four-walling films in various States. He moved into production, working his way up from PA to DP, Director, Writer, and Producer. Mr. Watkins worked in the story department at Paramount. He has worked in distribution, premiering, and promoting films as a field rep for companies such as United Artists. He has represented films at the American Film Market, Cannes, Milan, and others. Fred was a full-time Senior lecturer in film at the University of North Texas, teaching production, producing, directing, and screenwriting, and has many former students working in Berlin, London, NYC, Chicago, LA, Tokyo, and Seoul. He ended his academic career as Associate Chair of the large Media Department at UNT. Mr. Watkins is a co-author with Melinda Levin of Post: The Theory and Technique of Digital Nonlinear Motion Picture Editing, published by Allyn and Bacon Publishers. He continues working in production and distribution to all platforms.
