Biography

Walter Wassermann was born on September 19, 1883 in Berlin, Germany. He was a writer and actor, known for Ein Walzer im Schlafcoupé (1930), Der Schrein der Medici (1921) and Das Rheinlandmädel (1930). He died on October 4, 1944 in Salzburg, Austria.

The only movie for which Walter Wassermann was also responsible as the director was "Der Schrein der Medici" (1921).

Walter Wassermann already wrote his first screenplay in 1915 for "Im Banne fremden Willens" (1915) and from the 20s to be a screenwriter became his main activity.

The actor and screenwriter Walter Wassermann began his artistic career as a stage actor in Neisse in 1905. In the next years followed engagements at other theaters where he also realised some plays as a director.

The sound film offered him again opportunities to write the screenplay for numerous and also bigger projects.

He joined the film business in 1912 where he was also active as an actor.
