- Erich Waschneck was born on April 29, 1887 in Grimma, Saxony, Germany. He was a director and cinematographer, known for Regine (1935), Zwei Menschen (1930) and Regine, die Tragödie einer Frau (1927). He was married to Karin Hardt. He died on September 22, 1970 in Berlin, Germany.

- He had no problem with the transition to the sound film and he continued his film career successfully till to the end of World War II.
- His film Eight Girls in a boat (1932) won the Gold Medal at the Venice Film Festival.
