Writing under his own name as well as the pseudonyms Ben Kerr, Mike Moran, Jonas Ward and Thomas Wills, Ard wrote thirty hard-boiled detective and western novels during his short ten-year career. His recurring characters were gumshoes Timothy Dane, Danny Fontaine and Lou Largo as well as the two-fisted cowpoke Tom Buchanan.
