Biography

Rolf Wanka was born on February 14, 1901 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary [now Austria]. He was an actor and director, known for Vydelecne zeny (1937), Sprung ins Glück (1937) and Poslícek lásky (1937). He was married to Brigitta Dahlem(Lili Wanka), Friedl Czepa and Ilse Vogl. He died on November 30, 1982 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany.

Urbane, multi-lingual Austrian supporting actor, in films invariably as well-dressed, dignified gentlemen. He was educated at the universities of Innsbruck and Vienna, where he majored in economics, medicine and philosophy.

Has a daughter Irina Wanka, also an actor.

The actor Rolf Wanka made his film debut in 1931 with the movie "M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder", it followed the movie "Wehe, wenn er losgelassen" (1932). In the next years he took part in German movies as well as in Czech movies.

His lasts cinematical works came in the 70's into being.

He was a regular guest in Germany and Spain in the fifties.
