Director of Photography Wang Yu belongs to the top tier of China's Sixth-Generation filmmakers. He has shot feature films for some of China's and Hong Kong's most respected directors, including Jia Zhangke, Lou Ye,Tian Zhuangzhuang, Zhang Yang, Li Yu, Zhang Yibai, and Ann Hui, as well as with esteemed ASC cinematographer Richard Bowen for Bowen's directorial debut. Wang Yu's work has garnered international acclaim, winning him the top cinematography prize for his work on 'The Go Master' at the 2006 Shanghai International Film Festival, and earning him multiple nominations at major film festivals around the world. Wang Yu's work on television commercials is equally impressive. In addition to shooting for some of China's top commercial directors, including Feng Xiaogang and Jia Zhangke, he has also worked with a number of top foreign directors on projects in China and abroad for such clients as Olay, Coca-Cola,Volkswagen, Lenovo, and China Mobile.
