Biography

H.M. Walker was born on June 27, 1878 in West Middlebury, Ohio, USA. He was a writer, known for Safety Last! (1923), A Sailor-Made Man (1921) and They Just Had to Get Married (1932). He was married to Virginia Grose. He died on June 23, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Although closely associated with Harold Lloyd through Why Worry? (1923), expert gag man and writer H.M. "Beany" Walker was a Hal Roach loyalist and remained with his studio after the superstar comedian left for his deal with Paramount in the mid-1920s. A heavy smoker, he died of a heart attack in 1937, just shy of his 59th birthday..

He wrote the intertitles for silent films and then the spoken dialog for the "talkies.".

Was a longtime friend of cartoonist George Herriman. In the early 1920s Herriman drew his classic "Krazy Kat" comic strip in Walker's office at the Hal Roach studio.

Never learned to drive. His wife Virginia drove him to and from the Roach studio everyday.
