Biography

  • Edna Waldron was born on May 17, 1913 in Kansas City, Missouri. She started her career as a model and signed a contract with Hal Roach. In 1934 she was chosen out of three thousand actresses for a featured role in the musical The Merry Widow. Edna also appeared in the movies Reckless and Our Relations. Her shapely legs earned her the nickname "The Gam Girl". Unfortunately her career consisted mostly of small parts. On May 22, 1935 she married actor Jimmy Aye and became the sister-in-law of actress Marion Aye. In July of 1937 Edna and Jimmy were both injured in a car accident. The couple were divorced the following year. They reconciled in 1940 while working together in the movie Brother Orchid. They were planning to remarry but tragically on August 24, 1940 Edna died. Two days earlier she had been severely burned while trying to save a child in a fire. She was only twenty-seven years old.
