P.W. Wade was a classically trained concert violinist who only began lessons at the age of 15, serving as co-concertmaster of the University of Tennessee orchestra where he was trained by Russian violinist Mark Zelmanovich.

Interestingly, Wade has an Edrös-Bacon number of 7, and an Edrös-Bacon-Sabbath number of 10, a very rare occurrence in the combined fields of academia, film and music.

Dr. William R. Wade, father of P.W., was one of the more prolific mathematicians of the latter 20th century.
