- Without Art's counsel and guidance, in 1957, I would not have been admitted to Graduate School at UCLA...He led me first to the M.A. in Theater Arts, and next to the School of Education for my PhD.
- Art made major, career-long contributions that helped move the Theater Arts Department from the WWII tar paper barracks that I attended, 1957-59, into the state of the art theaters and studios of the Melnitz complex.
