For the television program/series "Under the stars" (Onder de sterren) he organized a real restaurant where wealthy Brussels residents and homeless people came to eat and work in the kitchen. This series turned out to be the trademark of Vrebos: a critical eye but a positive attitude, genuine communication, letting people in their dignity, and above all taking advantage of all opportunities for authentic folk humor.

From the late 1970s, Vrebos produced social and community reports with a clear human interest element.

Just as Robbe de Hert greeted everyone as (schat) "darling", Vrebos called everyone "Suske".

In a sense, he was the image media counterpart of Toots Thielemans and Lange JoJo from Brussels.

He first worked as a municipal official, in between he worked as a journalist, mainly in sports.

He presented himself as a real ' ket' (= real Brussels resident), and always had an opinion about what he thought was good or bad about the city of Brusslels. The decay hurt him, but he also liked the decay, the imperfect, and graffiti and tags as young people's response to ugliness.

As "Brusseleir van 't joar" (Brussels resident of the year) and a fervent defender of the Brussels dialect, he was a powerful and convincing ambassador for the capital.

Born and raised in Brussels, he made many TV reports about what struck him, always with genuine empathy, humor and irony.

Actress Pascale Bal was his girlfriend for nine years, she played leading roles in his films.

His talent for pure imagery was reflected in his clip for "Hard times" by The Scabs.

The dynamic vitalist and bon vivant Julien Vrebos was one of the first with a LEIF card in his pocket, to have the right to take his own life with dignity if he deemed it necessary.

Vrebos studied to be a surveyor and photographer.

In 1998 Vrebos made his debut as a film director with "Le bal masqué", inspired by the Nijvel gang. It was a dynamic, relatively violent crime film in which the focus on the victim once again took center stage.

In 1998 Julien Vrebos made his debut film Le Bal masqué against the background of the attacks by the Gang of Nivelles.

He was a prominent member of "De Snorrenclub". (Moustache club).
