Blonde Austrian leading lady and supporting actress in Ufa films of the 1930's and 40's. An officer's daughter, she was trained for acting at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and made her screen debut as 'Helen Steels' in 1928. Often cast as ingénues, coquettish courtesans, dancers or actresses.

She made her film debut in the silent movie era with "Don Juan in der Mädchenschule" (1928) and used the pseudonym Helen Steels at the beginning of her career (till 1933).

She continued her career during wartime and appeared among others in the controversial propaganda movie "Jud Süss" (1940) but also in movies like "Diesel" (1942) and "Münchhausen" (1942).

Hilde von Stolz only appeared in few more movies after the war. To her last cinematical works belong "Ehe im Schatten" (1947), "Charleys Tante" (1955) and "Die Trapp-Familie" (1956).

The actress Hilde von Stolz attended the Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and began her career at the Viennese Kammerspiele.

In the 30's she became a popular leading actress. The Ufa star took part in the well-known movies "Zu neuen Ufern" (1937) and "Kleiner Mann - ganz gross!" (1938).

Hilde von Stolz followed the political events in Germany critically and finally helped Jews to leave Germany. When she decided to leave Germany herself the outbreak of World War II nullified her plans and she had to stay in Germany.
