- Rosa von Praunheim was born on November 25, 1942 in Riga, Latvia. He was a director and writer, known for Anita: Dances of Vice (1987), Horror Vacui (1984) and Tough Love (2015). He was married to Oliver Sechting and Carla Egerer. He died on December 17, 2025 in Berlin, Germany.

- Co-founder of the gay rights movement in Germany.
- Caused much controversy when he appeared on the talk-show Explosiv - der heiße Stuhl (1989) and outed several German celebrities as gay (10 December 1991).
- His stage name honours the pink (German: "rosa") triangle, which gay prisoners had to wear on their jackets in the Nazi concentration camps and "Praunheim", a neighborhood in Frankfurt.
