- Marie von Buelow was born on April 13, 1874 in Graz, Austria. She was an actress, known for Eugen Onegin (1919), Das Tagebuch einer Verlorenen (1918) and Der unsichtbare Mensch (1916). She died on August 30, 1941 in Berlin, Germany.
- She made her stage debut in Basel in 1875, afterwards followed engagements in Karlsruhe, Danzig and Hamburg.
- In January 1894, Marie accompanied her husband to Cairo, where he was hoping to receive treatment at a German-run sanatorium. The great musician died a few weeks later, though.
- Marie's father, Stanislaus Schanzer, rose to become Minister of Defence in Austria.
- Shortly before the outbreak of the First World War, Marie von Bülow returned to acting and took supporting roles in film over the next ten years. Among other roles, she played beggars, mothers-in-law and landowners, but above all, mothers again and again.
- With von Bülow's approval, Marie continued to appear on the stage after their marriage, but at the end of 1884 intrigues by the Duke of Meiningen's consort, who was envious of Marie's beauty and talent, led to her dismissal from the court theatre's company. Marie now dedicated herself fully to creating a home for her husband, whom she supported throughout all the conflicts that his outspoken character got him into.
