Biography

According to the register of the Deutsche Bühnen-Jahrbücher, Jutta von Alpen resided in Rotenburg Castle until 1953 - it was precisely during this period that the building was used as an emergency shelter for refugee families before it became state property. Whether this is related to von Alpens disappearance from the public eye in 1953 can no longer be clarified today.

As Der Spiegel knew to report in a 1949 edition, the artist gave numerous concerts as part of tours through the West Zones. In the same article, she read of an alleged interest of an Indian film producer who wanted to commit her to the filming of "modern European(s)" topics. Obviously, this project broke down, as no further film with Alpen can be proved.

In 1945, Jutta von Alpen obviously gave up acting completely and remembered piano playing again.

Despite her name being mentioned in the registers of the Deutsche Bühnen-Jahrbücher, fixed theatre engagements are not recognizable.

At the age of 16 she applied as a pianist for a scholarship from the regional director of the Reichsmusikkammer, was assessed as a "rich talent", but rejected because of the influence of her mother, a former singer and pianist, who refused to allow other teachers.
